The 2014 Atlantic City Food And Wine Festival has once again come and gone! So crazy! Celebrity chefs Robert Irvine, Marcus Samuelsson and Martha Stewart were total foodie rockstars and some great food, drink and partying was had by all. It would take us an eternity to recap all of the many great moments that we experienced this past weekend, so we decided to break it down for you with our Top 5 favorite moments. Check it out!
(In no particular order)
1. Martha Stewart Feeding The Seagulls during Dining By The Sea Breakfast
She loves seagulls! She said it herself. So she decided to give one special seagull spectator just one bite. And let us tell you, this seagull was not playing. He/she (we don’t claim to be experts on seagull gender) caught it right in the mouth, causing other seagull friends to swarm the stage for a good couple minutes after! It was crazy pandemonium and Ms. Stewart sure got a kick out of it! See a couple of them dive bombing the stage right after the incident occurred in the picture, above.
2. Marcus Samuelsson Bringing A Passerby to the Stage & Giving Her A Drink
These two made a hilarious duo. Marcus’ friend was strolling by, blowing him kisses during his Dining By The Sea Lunch stint on Saturday when he invited her to the stage. He asked if she had a drink yet when she responded something along the lines of ‘Oh, no! You gonna give me one?!’ And Marcus, being the nice guy that he is, totally obliged with equal enthusiasm. It may have been one of those things where you just needed to be there, but take it from us, folks. Comical!
3.Robert Irvine Chasing Guests Around With Octopus
Including us. This happened during Robert’s Dining By The Sea Lunch on Sunday afternoon. He was holding up the octopus from his cooking podium for all to see when he hopped right down to the floor. We watched him swarm by with the slimy creature and were just about to breathe a sigh of relief that he bypassed us when…he decided to turn back around and look right at us….and of course walk towards us, octopus in hand. “Touch it,” he said. Being the faithful bloggers we are, we said “hold on, not until we get a picture first”. (You’re welcome, readers). Then we touched the thing. Sweaty. Almost mucousy, even. Robert screamed. We jumped. He went onto the rest of the crowd. Laughter ensued. That man!
4. Marcus Samuelsson’s Saturday Evening Attire
This guy is freakin’ STYLING! Look at those amazing bright colors and patterns! Marcus Samuelsson is not your average Chef! He is so fun and vibrant, and we totally loved that about him! Every time we looked at him, we smiled. You go, Marcus!
5. Robert Irvine’s Big Heart
Robert Irvine is simply the best. Every year, the Atlantic City Food And Wine Festival gives him the opportunity to get close to all of you and every year, he takes every opportunity to do so. He jumps down into the crowd. He talks to you, he hugs you and puts his (big and amazing) arms around you, jokes with you, takes pictures with you and really is extremely grateful. His genuine spirit always shines through. He really is one of the few who truly believes his mission is to serve people and never passes up an opportunity to help others and make them smile. In his media round table discussion, Robert revealed that he has a new food line coming out that will change the way children in military school systems eat. The proceeds from this line will go to The Robert Irvine Foundation and will benefit the Make A Wish Foundation and military families in need. “It’s not about making money,” he said. “Money doesn’t help unless you are helping people.” LOVE him!
Needless to say, we can’t wait until next year….can you?!
