The right stuff.

This may be referring to your No.1 New Kids on the Block song or a great way to sum up all the luxuries Las Vegas has to offer. Either way, you can celebrate Sin City’s non-stop energy and see the famous boy band in one spot – Planet Hollywood Las Vegas.

This Vegas hotel hotspot showcases some of the biggest and most influential artists in music history. Whether you’re a fan of pop, rock, Latin or country, Planet Hollywood is ready to bring down the house.

We broke it down to these fun categories to get you hyped for your all-time favorite bands. Get ready for a sizzling, star-studded affair.

The Pop Princess

It’s Britney b—-.  We all have at least one Britney jam we’ll always groove to. Personally, mine is “(You Drive Me) Crazy.” It reminds me of senior year of high school when my good friend and I tried to perfect the dance moves! Whichever song it is for you, legendary pop diva Britney Spears brings back her No. 1 hits in the visually-stunning show, Britney: Piece of Me.” You’ll hear all your favorites like “…Baby One More Time,” “Oops!…I Did It Again,” “I’m A Slave 4 U,” “Toxic,” and “Womanizer,” but don’t expect a reenactment of the beloved music videos. This Las Vegas concert venue’s state-of-the-art Zappos Theater, provides an all-encompassing nightclub experience. The 7,000-seat indoor amphitheater features the crispest sound system and more than 2,000 square feet of LED wall space. Plus, Britney’s costumes and dance moves on spot-on. My favorite bits include Brit flying across stage, as well as her sitting in a ring of fire. Now that’s hot.

This trip is ideal for bachelorette parties, birthday bashes or the ultimate gal’s night out. While you’re here, sip on Britney-inspired cocktails at Heart Bar, located across the theater in the casino.

“Britney: Piece Of Me” 2014-15 show dates:

  • August 16, 19, 23, 27, 30-31
  • Sept. 3, 5-6, 10
  • Oct. 3-4, 8, 10-11, 15, 17-18, 22, 24-25, 29-31
  • Nov. 1, 5, 7-8
  • Dec. 27-28, 30, 31
  • Jan. 30-31
  • Feb. 4-7, 11, 13-14, 17-18, 20-21, 25, 27-28

Fun fact: Britney’s “…Baby One More Time” video was shot at Venice High School, just like the movie “Grease.”

The Pop Princes

I grew up in the perfect generation; not only did I get to enjoy Backstreet Boys tunes in high school, I also lived through the New Kids on the Block craze in elementary.

Before the Backstreet Boys (who did a killer performance last month at Zappos Theater, by the way!), New Kids on the Block stole the hearts of ‘tweens and teens alike. Hits included “The Right Stuff,” “Please Don’t Go Girl,” “I’ll Be Loving You Forever,” “Step By Step” and “Hangin’ Tough.” NKOTB also graced the front of lunchboxes, T-shirts and notebooks. And talk about hangin’ tough – after a 12-year hiatus, the group got back together in 2008 and rocked the stages ever since. NKOTB performs at Zappos Theater on Thursday, July 10 through Sunday, July 13.

Fun facts: Maurice Starr, the same producer/songwriter who discovered New Edition, also formed NKOTB.

Rock on, rock on

Pop’s not your thing? Or maybe you’re a fan of both! Planet Hollywood expands its musical genres and shakes things up with Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden on Saturday, July 19. Industrial and grunge rock fans alike can jam out to all their hits. Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” is one of my personal all-time favorites, as well as the NIN’s infectious track, “Closer.” That beat was untouchable. I can’t even fathom how it’ll sound live, especially inside Zappos Theater. Twenty-one-foot-tall subwoofers? Unbelievably awesome.

Since 1989, NIN released nine studio albums. The group won a Grammy for Best Metal Performance with 1992’s “Wish.” NIN also won in 1995 for Best Metal Performance with “Happiness in Slavery.” The band’s latest album, “Hesitation Marks,” received a 2014 Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album.

Seattle-based Soundgarden was one of the original grunge bands, along with Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains. The group garnered major success with 1994’s album, “Superunknown,” which included the Grammy Award-winning singles, “Black Hole Sun” and “Spoonman.”

Fun facts: Soundgarden got its name from a wind-channeling pipe structure in Seattle; NIN front man Trent Reznor started playing piano at the tender age of five.

Marco Antonio Solis and Marc Anthony, both popular Latin musicians, also take Zappos Theater stage. The artists perform back-to-back, with Solis on Friday, Sept. 12 and Antony on Saturday, Sept. 13.

Solis started performing music at age six – that means he’s been in the game the past five decades. A handful of his songs appeared in telenovelas (Mexican soap operas). He also has 10 No. 1 singles, as well as 24 Top 10 singles.

Anthony is a two-time Grammy and four-time Latin Grammy winner and sold more than 12 million albums worldwide. One of his most popular  hits, “I Need To Know,” reached No. 1 on Billboard’s U.S. Hot Latin Songs and No. 5 on Billboard’s U.S. Top 40.

Fun facts: After two decades in the band Los Bukis, Solis finally decides to embark a solo career in the mid-’90s; Anthony is also an actor, starring in films “Carlito’s Way,” “Hackers” and “In the Time of the Butterflies.”

With so many stars in the building, it’s no wonder Planet Hollywood is a celebrity destination. I’m happy that these bands I grew up with are still killin’ it. Check out the resort’s other hot Las Vegas shows this summer.

About The Author

I live for a crazy Vegas adventure, but not in ways you may think. Sure, our nightlife scene is all fun and dandy, but I love hitting up all the city's vegan spots, having staycations and catching shows by my favorite musical acts. Since I've ditched rainy Seattle 20+ years ago, I graduated from UNLV and covered Las Vegas hotel and entertainment articles for, the LA Times, Frommer's and our very own Total Vegas Blog. When I'm not writing, you'll find me hanging with my two girls, along with our shih-tzu and tiger cat.
