This blog’s a big fan of all things zombies and spooky and Halloween, so we’re always looking ahead for fun things along that vein. (See what we did there?)

First up, Las Vegas is getting its very own zombie run, aptly called the Las Vegas Zombie Run. It’s a 5K run to benefit a Las Vegas charity, Generation Vegas. Similarly-themed runs have been cropping up across the country, spurred on by the popularity of shows like AMC’s “The Walking Dead.” (Best show ever? Discuss.)

Las Vegas Zombie Run

We're feeling motivated already.

In the Las Vegas Zombie Run event, scheduled for Oct. 28, 2012 (at Sunset Park Walking Path, about 15 minutes from The Strip), runners wear a flag football-style belt, then navigate a course teeming with the undead who chase them and try to relieve them of their brains. Or flags, whatever. And it’s for charity, so what’s not to love?

In other frightfully intriguing news, Rio Las Vegas headliners have collaborated with Universal Orlando Resort in Orlando, Florida to create an attraction that will be featured in the amusement park’s 2012 Halloween offerings, “Penn & Teller New(kd) Las Vegas.”

Penn Teller 3D

Yeah, we're already kind of freaking out a little.

Penn & Teller have helped create a 3-D haunted house that we’re fairly sure won’t be the typical haunted house because, well, it’s Penn & Teller, and they’re, how do we say this, a tad off (but in a good way). Here’s a handy teaser video to get you in the mood.

The premise of the attraction is that Penn & Teller have accidentally nuked Las Vegas, so, we’re sure this collaboration with Universal will get glowing reviews. Moving on.

“Evil Dead the Musical” is making a splash in the V Theater inside The Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. The stage production, inspired by the campy “Evil Dead” movies featuring Bruce Campbell, has ample amounts of blood, music, blood, demons, blood, humor and more than a little blood.

Evil Dead musical

This one's not for the faint of heart.

Oh, and that splash they’re making? It’s fake blood. Hence, the only show in Vegas, and perhaps the world, with an actual “Splash Zone.” No kidding. Find out more at the show’s official site.

Last on our Tour de Horror, “The Goretorium” is coming to The Strip in September. This new, year-round haunted attraction will sit adjacent to Planet Hollywood at the Harmon Retail Center, and is the brainchild of Eli Roth, perhaps best known as the creator of the “Hostel” and “Cabin Fever” movie  franchises.

The Goretorium is described as a self-guided horror experience and “a multi-level maze of frights.” The attraction will feature “high-tech Vegas showmanship and old-fashioned scares,” including “live actors, animatronic frights and special effects contained in a vintage hotel setting that rivals Hollywood’s best movie sets.”

Not a real word, but we'll let it slide this time.

The Goretorium will also include a ’60-inspired lounge called “Baby Dolls,” with “caged zombie dancers and live feedings.” Hey, we don’t make up the news, we just report it.
