The bell is the oldest symbol still used on today’s slot machines.

The lights on top of slot machines are color-coded to signify the minimum bet on a given machine. A yellow light on top means the minimum bet on the machine is a quarter, red means nickels at the smallest bet and blue means dollars.

There is one slot machine in Las Vegas for every eight inhabitants.
