In the very first World Series of Poker (WSOP) Millionaire Maker Tournament at Rio Las Vegas, Benny Chen, a restaurant manager from Prince Edward Island, Canada won $1.2 million and a coveted WSOP gold bracelet. Just another typical day in Vegas!
One of the perks of winning a WSOP event? Getting a photo op with “Jubilee!” showgirls, of course.
Chen is an amateur poker player, and beat out a field of 6,344 entrants in this particular tournament. The World Series of Poker has a variety of distinct tournaments within it, the most recognized being the Main Event which takes place July 6-15, 2013.
Chen’s exact prize money was $1,199,104. He’s the 257th millionaire the World Series of Poker has created.
All nine players at the Millionaire Maker Tournament final table earned six-figure prizes. Which leads us to believe we should spend less time blogging and more time learning poker.
