DING-DING-DING — that’s the siren call of your jackpot dreams coming true at the push of a button. It can be that easy to become a jackpot millionaire in Las Vegas and it has.

Over the years, hundreds of people in Las Vegas have had their wildest dreams become reality as they walked into a casino a hopeful player and swaggered out a millionaire baller. More players have won $1 million+ slot jackpots in Nevada than anywhere else.

Megabucks: Winning a Jackpot in Las Vegas

Two words: Cha. Ching.

A big part of that millionaire bonanza is progressive slot machines. Progressive slots are linked machines with jackpots that grow as players across the country put money in and spin. Signs with the jackpot amounts are usually right above the machines and you can watch the jackpot rise steadily as a small percentage of all money played feeds the total.

Two of the most popular progressive slot machine games are Wheel of Fortune, based on the popular game show, and Megabucks. Megabucks has paid out more than $1 BILLION (yep, not a typo) in jackpots since it hit casino floors in 1986. Not to be outdone by Megabucks, Wheel of Fortune has created more than 1,000 millionaires nationwide and has paid out $3 BILLION in jackpots. OMG is this for reels? Sorry, bad slot machine pun. Seriously though, that’s a lot of dough.

All of that got us thinking, what are the largest slot jackpots hit at Caesars Entertainment’s Las Vegas properties? Let’s count it down from quit-your-job-and-buy-an-island winner to newly-minted millionaire.

1. $22,618,156.67
MEGABUCKS $1, BALLY’S LAS VEGAS
MAY 27, 2002

The top jackpot of $22.6 MILLION went to Johanna Heundl of Covina, California

The best reason ever to be late for breakfast!

The top jackpot of $22.6 MILLION went to Johanna Heundl of Covina, California, who was 74-years-old at the time. This Bally’s Las Vegas Megabucks player struck it rich while she stopped to play on her way to breakfast. We certainly hope she splurged on the all-you-can-drink mimosa upgrade after that major win.

2. $21,346,952.22
MEGABUCKS $1, CAESARS PALACE
JUNE 1, 1999

Caesars PalaceNumber two on our list is an Illinois man who slipped a $10 bill into a Megabucks machine at Caesars Palace and changed his life forever. The 49-year-old described himself as a “self-employed business consultant.” After he scored a whopping $21,346,952.22, we’re guessing he might now be consulting on what to do with your millions.

3. $11,909,745.35
MEGABUCKS $1, PLANET HOLLYWOOD RESORT & CASINO
OCT. 16, 2005

Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino
The third highest jackpot on our list occurred at what is now Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. It was merely one month and a day since the last Megabucks jackpot had hit elsewhere when a fortunate player became a multi-millionaire. The player, who wished to remain anonymous, said he saw the Megabucks sign that read, “One pull can change your life,” and around 2:30 a.m., he became a believer when he was suddenly $11,909,745 richer. “Now I know that it’s true,” he said.

Aside from slots, there’s another well-known way to score a jackpot and add millionaire to your resume. Every summer, thousands of eager poker players descend upon Las Vegas in hopes of becoming the next World Series of Poker Main Event winner. The no-limit Texas Hold ‘Em players whittle down to the top nine, aka The November Nine, named such because the final table takes place each year in November. The top prize has varied over the years, reaching $12 million when Jamie Gold took the gold in 2006… but poker jackpots are a story for another day.

What would you do if you became the next multi-million dollar jackpot winner?
