The Big Green Bus Visits the Las Vegas Strip

The Big Green Bus may be the coolest vehicle traveling across the country since the iconic “Flower Power” VW van. While both groups promote peace, love and happiness, riders on the Big Green Bus focus solely on the environment. In fact, the sustainable bus even runs on biodiesel fuel and solar panels — in other words, vegetable oil and the sun.

For the ninth straight summer, Dartmouth students travel cross-country and raise awareness. This year, 13 Dartmouth students will visit 24 states, covering about 12,000 miles. The student-run advocacy group not only shares inspirational eco-friendly tips, but they also listen to issues that affect each community. Captain Planet would be so proud.

If you’re in Vegas and want to check out The Big Green Bus, you’re in luck: The bus will be outside Bally’s on Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road tomorrow from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. To welcome the Big Green Bus, “America’s Got Talent” finalists and The Quad’s headlining troupe, Recycled Percussion performs live at 9:30 a.m. These “junk rockers” are famous for making music with anything from power tools to trash cans.

Following the Recycled Percussion performance, you’ll get a chance to peek inside the Big Green Bus. The students will offer comprehensive tours, free and open to the public. Get your green on!

Update: The Big Green Bus event couldn’t have happened on a better day. With Vegas’ slightly cooler temperatures and mostly cloudy skies, the outdoor festivities weren’t too bad for July. If you missed the gang, you can still catch them by checking their remaining tour destinations.

Caesars Entertainment’s Big Green Bus gold national sponsorship enables this “classroom on wheels” to increase awareness about the importance of sustainable practices. The company’s CodeGreen initiative provides tangible low-carbon solutions to reduce water, energy and waste consumption at all Caesars resorts.

Recycled Percussion proudly represents green.
