National Donut Day: We’ve Got Nothin’

It’s National Donut Day (Jun. 3), and try as we might, we couldn’t come up with a single compelling reason to post about it on this Las Vegas blog.

In anticipation of the big day, we even purchased (and devoured) a donut for the sole purpose of taking a photo of it.

Is this the most useless "holiday" ever, or what?

Yes, we thought about sharing that Dunkin’ Donut locations around the Las Vegas Valley are offering a “free” donut with the purchase of a beverage. But as we’ve said in the past, when you have to purchase something to get something “free,” it’s not actually “free.” Hence all the quotation marks.

Had we actually done a post about National Donut Day, we might have mentioned Krispie Kreme is offering guests free donuts with no additional purchase. Almost interesting enough to post about given our love of all things free.

We considered sharing the name of what many consider to be Sin City’s absolute best donut shop: Ronald’s. Ultimately, we decided against it, because we don’t like to play favorites.

There was a moment where we thought about sharing some donut trivia, like the fact Whitby, Ontario has more donut stores per capita than any other place in the world.

In the end, we thought it better to just skip doing a post in honor of National Donut Day. We suspect your thighs will thank us for it.
