It’s all the news you need to know about the greatest city on Earth. (And a lot of news you don’t need to know, but it can’t hurt to know it.)

° The First Lady, Michelle Obama, visited our very own Red Rock Canyon on Jun. 1. There were some politics mixed into the day’s agenda, of course, but the visit was mainly to highlight a new initiative by the First Lady, “Let’s Move! Outside.” The program encourages children to be more active in an effort to stem the tide of childhood obesity. Read more.

° Bid on a hunky, eligible, Vegas fireman, for charity (Jun. 4). Proceeds from the bachelor auction event at the Palms will benefit the Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation.  Find out more.

° Congratulations to Bradley Ogden! His eatery at Caesars Palace was recently named “Best American Restaurant” by the Southern Nevada Hotel Concierge Association. Bradley Ogden also made Las Vegas Weekly’s short list of Sin City’s best burgers. See the list.

One of the few signs in town that can inspire spontaneous salivation.

° For better or worse, sounds like “The Real Housewives of Las Vegas” is moving closer to being a reality. The juicy details here.

° The Fremont Street Experience, in downtown Las Vegas, will host the annual Vegas Cruise Classic Car Show through Jun. 6. The weekend will feature a free, live concert (Jun. 5) by Sweet, a popular band this blog knows nothing about. More groovy information here.

° Comedian Wayne Brady was recently spotted taking in a performance of Peepshow at Planet Hollywood.

Holly Madison

Today's entirely gratuitous photo of Holly Madison in "Peepshow."

° The Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend takes place through Jun. 6. The weekend’s events include things like the “53rd Annual Striptease Reunion Showcase” (Jun. 4), the “20th Annual Miss Exotic World Pageant” (Jun. 5) and a closing gala (Jun. 6) featuring Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears. The Burlesque Hall of Fame is a Vegas non-profit dedicated to fostering “an appreciation of the history and heritage of vintage burlesque.” As if that needs to be fostered! Go to the official site.

° We were sorry to hear that one of the most photographed features of Nevada’s Valley of Fire State Park is no more. The famed “dragon” arch has fallen. Learn more.

° Catch a KOST radio interview with crooner Matt Goss. The Caesars Palace performer speaks about his show, his self-produced album “Gossy,” his pop music past in England and more.

° Here’s a nice article about “Five Ways to Enjoy Paris Las Vegas for Under $20.” Among them, people-watching at Mon Ami Gabi (free!), one of the most popular pastimes on the Strip.

Blood Mary

Another way to enjoy Mon Ami Gabi. The Bloody Marys are mind-blowing!

° Buzz about the luxurious L.A.-to-Vegas train, The X-Train, continues. Read more (with new renderings).

° The largest H&M store in the country is coming to The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. Vegas is already home to two H&M locations, at the Miracle Mile Shops inside Planet Hollywood and Town Square (at the south end of the Strip). The new H&M will take up the space that previously housed FAO Schwarz (which closed Jan. 23). H&M operates in a whopping 37 countries. Read all about it, shopping fanatics!

° Today’s most pressing question: What’s in Miss Nevada’s purse? Now you know.

° Hectic weekend in Vegas. The 2010 Las Vegas International Film Festival runs through Jun. 6 at the Hilton. The event features a variety of film screenings, star appearances and other cinematic diversions. Get the details.
