This Saturday is no ordinary night in Las Vegas.

When the curtain rises at 7:30 p.m. in The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, it rises on the 1,000th Las Vegas show performed by Celine Dion.

One thousands shows… take a moment to absorb that milestone. It’s almost double the number of shows the King of Vegas – Elvis Presley – performed (636 or 646, depending on your source). It’s more shows than the Rat Pack played together in Vegas. One thousand shows means more than 4 million fans have journeyed to Las Vegas to see Celine. It’s no wonder Newsweek called her show “Las Vegas’ biggest act since Elvis.”

And Celine is not slowing down. She has added 24 new shows to her 2017 schedule.

As Vegas prepares for an extraordinary night, check out these fun facts about Celine’s show.

Celine Maximus

Celine’s show at The Colosseum was not her first performance at Caesars. Nine years before “Celine Dion A New Day…” premiered, she performed in the Circus Maximus showroom with Glenn Hirsch in August 1996.

The Colosseum at Caesars Palace has been nicknamed the “House that Celine built.”

The Colosseum is the house that Celine built

The $95 million Colosseum was created exclusively for “Celine Dion A New Day…,” which debuted at Caesars Palace in 2003 and closed in 2007. It was sold out consecutively for five years, with more than 700 performances during the span. Celine returned to The Colosseum in 2015 with her new show “Celine.”

Celine makes it rain nightly

There are two 1,000-gallon water tanks under the stage at The Colosseum for the final water effect in “My Heart Will Go On.” The water is pumped up 110 feet to the grid and fed into water rings. It then rains down around Celine as she performs.

The fabric goes on

The dress Celine wears during “My Heart Will Go On” is made of 48 yards of fabric, which is steamed every night before the show. Celine’s wardrobe features exclusive designs developed by her stylist in collaboration with Atelier Versace, Zuhair Murad, Schiaparelli and Elie Saab.
