Penn & Teller Set to Appear in Three Boston Shows Jan. 24-25
It’s been 10 years since Rio’s magic headliners Penn & Teller have graced the stage in Boston, Mass., but the unconventional twosome finally return Jan. 24-25 at Citi Performing Arts Center Shubert Theatre. Next Friday, Oct. 4, tickets go on sale for all three shows—one on Friday, Jan. 24 and two on Saturday, Jan. 25. The performances are the first collaboration between Caesars Entertainment and Citi Center, who are planning to do business together with a casino in Suffolk Downs. The Penn & Teller shows represent one of the first major steps in the partnership, and the magicians are looking at the performances as a sort of homecoming, as they both grew up in the area.
The eccentric, outspoken Penn Jillette and silent Teller have enjoyed a working relationship for more than four decades, bringing their wildly successful magic show to the forefront of Vegas entertainment. They’re known for debunking magic myths and performing daring tricks laced with Jillette’s sarcastic, humorous commentary that has made them one of the longest-running shows in Las Vegas entertainment history. In their decade away from Boston, they’ve enjoyed a blockbuster run at their eponymous theater inside Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, and in February, they celebrated their 20-year anniversary and announced a contract extension, signing through 2018.
