So, what are you in Vegas for?

There are lots of reasons why you could be visiting the city. Hey, you might even live here. No matter what the occasion may be, we’ve put together a list of shows in Vegas to make it extra special.

Trying to impress some clients after the convention? Or are you partying with the rest of the bride tribe? Let’s make sure you have entertainment worthy of the occasion.

Shows in Vegas: Which shows to go to

Letting Loose After the Convention

You know what happens after “all work and no play,” right?

Whether it’s CES or one of the hundreds of other trade shows and industry conventions throughout the year, you don’t want to spend all day cooped up in a booth or networking without having a little fun later in the day.

For this bunch, we have some recommendations where you can let loose without getting too crazy with your colleagues. Maybe.

Jimmy Kimmel Comedy Club

Forget about all the serious business and get laughing. The late night talk show host opened this hometown comedy club last year at The LINQ Hotel + Experience, right in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. Go ahead and share a round of tasty bites, drinks and mocktails before catching some of the country’s most beloved touring comedy talent.

Criss Angel Mindfreak

Mindfreak, baby! Set aside the day’s LinkedIn requests and buckle up, because you’re about to see some crazy stuff.

The edgy magician who’s made his name on TV has returned to the place where his Vegas career launched, Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Catch his greatest hits package of everything he’s known for: Crazy new illusions that fill the stage, shocking video effects, up-close street magic with audiences and some heart.

Anthony Cools

OK, if you really want to get weird with your colleagues and peers, this might do it. Over at Paris Las Vegas, Anthony Cools pushes the limits of what a hypnosis show can be, using his skills only for only the naughtiest of purposes. You never know what someone will end up doing.

We’re not saying you should buy a DVD of what Ted from the convention did up on stage, but hey… it is available after the show.

Have A Memorable Date Night

Vegas was made for special occasions, wasn’t it? You have so many shows, restaurants, and things to see and do in close proximity. This all makes for the perfect date night, since you’ll never have to walk very far when you do dinner and a show with your boo.

A Colosseum or Zappos Theater Headliner

Going to a concert is a pretty good date night, but it’s hard to top watching world class musicians work their magic on stage.

You’ll find something for all musical tastes: Gwen Stefani, Shania Twain, Christina Aguilera and Kelly Clarkson at the Zappos Theater inside Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

Over at The Colosseum inside Caesars Palace, you can catch mainstays like Reba, Brooks & Dunn, Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Sting, plus visiting acts like Little Big Town and The Who.

As if that list of talent wasn’t amazing enough, The Colosseum venue itself was recently renovated with state-of-the-art audio equipment, luxurious seat and viewing upgrades and even a VIP area with bottle/cocktail service.

Penn & Teller

Magic duo Penn & Teller have been making audiences go “ooh,” “ahh,” and “hah!” for nearly 30 years in Las Vegas. Their show at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino blends comedy and all styles of stage magic in a seemingly effortless fashion, and even though they “show you how it’s done,” you’re still left dazzled and asking for more.

Absinthe

If you know your date’s sense of humor, make the night a fun one with some dirty jokes and Vegas’ most unique assortment characters.

The circus tent just outside of Caesars Palace houses Absinthe, a wonderfully raunchy mix of burlesque, comedy and acrobatics hosted by the larger-than-life Gazillionaire. This super-intimate venue puts you right up close to the action, so you’ll get to see every moment in a way that a theater can’t offer.

Traveling With Kids or Kids At Heart

Whether you’re traveling with children or just really, really love wizards, there’s plenty of family-friendly entertainment in Las Vegas that the grownups in the room can enjoy too.

WOW – The Vegas Spectacular

Wow – The Vegas Spectacular at Rio Las Vegas is a visual spectacle filled with water and wonder. This show has been seen by more than 2.5 million people around the world and has dazzled people of all ages. Watch more than 30 artists perform unbelievable stunts and acrobatics alongside 3D projections, water walls, holograms and more in a 180-degree theater that offers excellent views of all the action.

Mac King

Mac King‘s nearly 20-year run at Harrah’s Las Vegas is an impressive feat, but not nearly as impressive as his family-friendly magic tricks. Combining visual humor, sleight-of-hand tricks and jokes for young ones and adults (don’t worry, the racy stuff mostly goes over their heads), this is one family show that’s truly for the whole family.

Potted Potter

Potterheads rejoice! Potted Potter at Bally’s Las Vegas packs a lot of Potter into a perfectly sized 70-minute package. This “unauthorized parody” is a madcap retelling of the seven “Harry Potter” books as told by the show’s stars (and mega-fans) Dan and Jeff. This show features plenty of all-ages fun, including hilarious songs, audience interaction and brilliant interpretations of scenes from the books.

When You Want to Keep the Party Going

You’ve got your party crew in tow and you know it’s gonna be a crazy night no matter what. We’ve got some show inspiration for the wild ones.

Ru Paul’s Drag Race

The Emmy Award-winning competition TV show is coming to the oh-so-appropriately fabulous Flamingo Las Vegas in late January and it’ll feature all of your favorites from the series. See the latest season of Ru Paul’s Drag Race unfold and catch faves like Aquaria, Asia O’Hara, Derrick Barry, Kim Chi, Naomi Smalls and more.

Miss Behave

You know a show is truly unpredictable when its audience members have said things like “I feel traumatized in the best way possible.”

Expect this to be part game show, part improv and part audience participation free-for-all. Miss Behave at Bally’s Las Vegas has audience members playing a series of irreverent games with ridiculous names like “Shazam That Riff” (think quick-drawing the music identification app on your phone).

You never know what could happen, so just prepare yourself for a night of comedic chaos and you’ll be alright.

If you just want to see all the shows in Las Vegas that are currently showing on the Strip and see which one catches your interest, you can do that as well.
