We’re always looking for fun new things to do in Las Vegas, and the MyStudio recording booth at Planet Hollywood appears to qualify. Bonus: People who use this innovative, compact recording studio to audition through April 15 could end up appearing on “The X Factor.”

MyStudio at Planet Hollywood

The perfect place to both sing your heart out and address your claustrophobia issues.

The MyStudio HD Recording Studio is located next to Planet Hollywood’s sports book, and in honor of its opening has partnered with Simon Cowell’s “The X Factor” to host Las Vegas auditions for the popular TV talent search.

When you audition for "The X Factor" at MyStudio, you also get this groovy keepsake swipey card thingy to keep and perhaps sell on eBay.

MyStudio auditions for “The X Factor” are also happening in Honolulu, Phoenix, Nashville, New Jersey, Los Angeles and New England.

The MyStudio booth allows performers to record high quality videos in a private recording studio environment. In the case of “The X Factor” auditions, singers can submit their audition video directly to the show while at the MyStudio location inside Planet Hollywood.

Thanks to these charming tourists for pretending to be auditioning for "The X Factor."

Beyond the “The X Factor” audition process (which, as we said, ends April 15, 2012), MyStudio promises to be a fun diversion for Vegas visitors for some time to come.

MyStudio is a self-contained audio/video recording studio that results in HD broadcast-quality video. MyStudio can be used to create videos for music, comedy, auditions, personal messages and other greetings. Possible use: Make a Vegas-themed video to let your friends and family back home know how much fun you’re having without them.

The marketing people claim you can get famous at Planet Hollywood, now it might actually happen.

A green screen in the booth lets guests choose from 1,000 virtual backgrounds.

MyStudio can also help address your not-especially-decisive issues.

MyStudio also offers thousands of karaoke tracks to sing along to as well (“The X Factor” auditions are done a cappella). The best part of people doing karaoke in the MyStudio booth? The booth is sound-proof so the rest of us don’t have to hear it! Or perhaps that’s just a personal preference of this blog. Moving on.

Musicians even have places to plug their stuff.

A recording session for up to five minutes costs $20.

Within minutes of a video being recorded, the videos are uploaded to the MyStudio Web site for viewing and sharing. MyStudio shoots you an e-mail to let you know where you and your friends can find your video online.

Question: How did people share videos before electricity? That must have been challenging.
