A recent e-mail to select Total Rewards loyalty club members tipped their hand, but today, Caesars Palace officially announced it will soon open its 668-room Octavius Tower. (Cue those long trumpet thingys.)

Rooms will go on sale Sep. 15, 2011 for guest arrivals beginning Jan. 2, 2012.

Octavius Tower Caesars Palace

We love us some eye-popping Vegas newness.

The Octavius Tower will include 60 suites and six luxury villas. And when it comes to luxury, Caesars Palace tends to know of which it speaks.

Octavius Tower is the resort’s sixth, and will have a private entrance, separate hotel lobby and direct access to the Garden of the Gods pool oasis and gardens.

This is the best photo we've ever taken at the Caesars Palace pool without being detained.

The economic downturn led to a two-year delay in completing the tower, part of a $860 million Caesars Palace expansion, so its opening is welcome news, and a sign of great things ahead for Sin City.

The opening of the Octavius Tower marks another win for the iconic Strip resort, with a slew of resident performers coming onboard (Celine Dion, Rod Stewart and Shania Twain, among them), as well as lots of restaurant newness, including the recent opening of Central Michel Richard, and plans for the arrival of the Old Homestead Steakhouse (to open this winter). Also in the works are Nobu Hotel, Restaurant and Lounge, a “hotel within a hotel” concept (set to open summer 2012).

Yes, we expect to be a very busy blog.

Central Michel Richard

Sorry, we saw this steak at Central yesterday and can't get it out of our head.

Thanks to the wonder of modern news release technology, we have these additional details about Octavius Tower: “Spacious guest rooms, starting at 550 square-feet, will offer a modern, luxurious decor incorporating earthy shades of browns, grays, taupes and beiges, offset with pops of green and splashes of deep red. Designed by Michael Medeiros of KNA Design, the rooms will feature marble floors and stylish patterned carpets that complement dark wood furnishings and brushed chrome fixtures. King-sized beds with sleek headboards, plush pillow top mattresses and luxurious Anichini linens will provide ultimate comfort, while living areas create an inviting ambiance with plush velvet sofas, contemporary chairs and chic stone tables.”

We cannot tell you how long we’ve waited to get our hands on Anichini linens, whatever those might actually be.

On to the bathrooms! “Marble-tiled bathrooms will feature contemporary striped wall coverings, oversized whirlpool bathtubs and enclosed glass showers with multiple shower heads. Flat screen televisions will be set above granite double vanities stocked with luxurious Gilchrest & Soames bath amenities.”

We’re awaiting the opening of the Octavius Tower with bated breath. And, yes, we’re having the bated breath thing looked into.
