The holidays might take all the spotlight in December, but there’s a lot happening in Las Vegas.

The National Finals Rodeo has Vegas going country for a little bit, while “Legends in Concert” has a special holiday-themed edition running throughout the month and world-class illusionist Criss Angel makes a big move.

Here’s what’s going on in Las Vegas in December.

Dec. 23-31

Gwen Stefani

You’ll be going B-A-N-A-N-A-S if you catch the Platinum recording artist and fashion icon’s show “Gwen Stefani – Just A Girl” at the Zappos Theater in Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. She’ll be bringing hits like “Hollaback Girl,” “Spiderwebs,” and of course, “Just A Girl” to life for long-time fans and newcomers alike Dec. 27 -31.

The Righteous Brothers

Bill Medley and new partner Bucky Heard are back for another run of shows at Harrah’s Las Vegas Dec. 27 – 30.

The Righteous Brothers bring to life classic songs like “Unchained Melody,” (featured in the movie, “Ghost”), “Time of My Life,” (as heard in “Dirty Dancing”) and “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’,” with a talented rhythm section, four-piece horn section and three female back up vocalists (including Bill’s daughter, McKenna).

Xavier Mortimer’s Magical Dream

The 2018 Best of Las Vegas gold award winner for Best Magic Show,” Xavier Mortimer’s Magical Dream is upgrading guests to VIP tickets from Dec. 25-31. All you have to do is show up and present your standard ticket at the box office.

This fascinating show features 70 minutes of illusions, offbeat acts and stunning sounds and visuals, including a soundtrack created by former Cirque du Soleil performer Maxime Rodriguez. Tickets start at $49.

Living Colour

Best known for their 1988 hit “Cult of Personality,” Grammy-winning band Living Colour has put out exceptionally well-received, politically-charged work since reuniting in 2000.

Their hard rock style blends elements of jazz, funk and heavy metal into a unique sound, so fans of any of those genres will want to catch them at Brooklyn Bowl on Dec. 31.

Rod Stewart: The Hits

Some guys have all the luck… this one just happens to also have a great voice worthy of a five-decade long career. “Rod Stewart: The Hits” showcases the beloved singer behind “Maggie May,” “Hot Legs,” “Forever Young” and “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” – and, admit it, the last one just got stuck in your head, didn’t it?

The icon rounds out his most recent string of shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Dec. 1 and 2.

Catch Florida Georgia Line at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas this Dec. 1, 5, 7, 8, and 11.

Florida Georgia Line: Live from Las Vegas

Just in time for National Finals Rodeo to come to town, Florida Georgia Line kicks off a five-night run at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. The country music stars will be drawing from their entire catalog, including their recently-released track “Simple.” Catch them on Dec. 1, 5, 7, 8, and 11.

Reba, Brooks & Dunn return to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Dec. 5, 7-8, 12, 14-15.

Reba, Brooks & Dunn: Together in Vegas

We hope you’re still in a country mood, because Reba, Brooks & Dunn return to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace for a string of shows on Dec. 5, 7-8, 12, 14-15.

With too many awards to count between multimedia, multi-hyphenate mogul Reba and superstar duo Brooks & Dunn, that’s a whole lot of award-winning talent on one stage. They’re even friends in real life, too. Aww!

Wayne Newton: Up Close & Personal

Few performers are more associated with this city than Wayne Newton. Mr. Las Vegas is back for his latest run of shows at Bally’s Las Vegas on Dec. 3-5 and 10-12. This intimate, up-close and personal, show in the Windows Showroom might be the best way to see the Vegas legend.

Celebrate the holiday season with Legends in Concert's hits and holiday classics

Even the Legends are getting in the spirit.

Legends in Concert

The longest-running show in Las Vegas gets in the spirit with a rousing intro featuring the Brian Setzer Orchestra’s rendition of “Jingle Bells” and finale tribute to Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s “Christmas Eve in Sarajevo” (“Carol of the Bells”), in addition to holiday-themed songs mixed in throughout the evening.

The “Legends in Concert” lineup through Dec. 30 features tributes to Aretha Franklin, Bruce Springsteen, Bruno Mars and Garth Brooks.

Total Rewards App

The Total Rewards program is fantastic – but did you know there’s an app? It’s called play by TR and it was recently redesigned to make it easier to check-in, buy tickets, make dinner reservations, check your Total Rewards player info, and find offers and information.

One hot new feature for the navigationally challenged (like this writer) is the wayfinding feature available inside of Caesars Palace & The Forum Shops, Planet Hollywood & The Miracle Mile Shops, The Linq, Flamingo and The Cromwell. You’ll definitely want this app on your Android or iOS device.

a totally rad ’80s ski party

Beer Park at Paris Las Vegas is getting in the time machine (your pick – phone booth, DeLorean or hot tub) on Dec. 8. The venue is morphing into a 1980s ski party, complete with a hot chocolate bar, a limited-time stout beer flight, electric tableside s’mores, shot skis, Santa Claus photo opportunities, karaoke and more. Beer Park will also be giving away 10 lift passes and rental vouchers for the 2018-2019 season at Lee Canyon Ski Resort. Awesome to the max!

Dec. 9-15

Country Music Fun

As NFR wraps up, don’t miss the last few shows of Reba, Brooks & Dunn at Caesars Palace, or Florida Georgia Line at Planet Hollywood. Or if you’re looking for something a little more adult, X Country at Harrah’s Las Vegas leaves little to the imagination.

Dec. 16-22

Planet Hollywood is about to get freaky… MINDfreaky.

Criss Angel will bring the latest incarnation of his show back to where it all started in 2005. The globally beloved illusionist has retooled his production to be more visually enticing than ever with more than 75 illusions (20 of which are never-before-seen) and new effects.

Comedy Cellar & The Comedy Lineup

Who wants to LOL? It’s a good week to be in town for comedy fans. John Caparulo (check out our interview with him) is back at Harrah’s Las Vegas for a run of shows through the end of the month.

If that isn’t enough, Comedy Cellar at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino will feature Dennis Blair (who toured with comedy legend George Carlin for 20 years), Joe Machi, Kathleen Dunbar and Roy Wood Jr. this week.

That’s a lot of laughter – just make sure you don’t get quip-lashed.
