Today is International Chocolate Day (Sep. 13, 2011), and of all the quirky, made-up holidays, this one’s got to be our favorite. Mainly because we couldn’t find anything on the Internet about a “National Craps Day,” but we trust they’re working on it.

Naturally, Vegas has to give this fabricated holiday a Sin City twist. Enter the Go Sexy shop at Flamingo Las Vegas.

What is the matter with you people?

We envision a number of problems with chocolate pasties, but we shall not let those hamper our unbridled enthusiasm for International Chocolate Day.

Of course, you’ll find additional chocolate delights at the Ethel M Chocolates store inside the Flamingo, too. This blog’s favorite treat? The signature chocolate slot coins (below).

Yay, anything gambling-related and/or edible.

Next on the agenda of our Vegas chocolate-aganza (not a real word): The Las Vegas Chocolate Shop in The Miracle Mile at Planet Hollywood.

The beloved Las Vegas welcome sign gets an injection of chocolate. In an appropriate context, of course.

Of course, you’ll want to visit Max Brenner: Chocolate by the Bald Man in The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace for their popular “chocolate syringes.” No, we are not making this up.

What's the opposite of a tranquilizer dart?

While you’re in the neighborhood, stop in at Payard Pâtisserie & Bistro at Caesars Palace for more chocolate delights, several of which this blog could make, as long as we died and were reincarnated as a French pastry chef. Which could totally happen.

Chocolate and vanilla mousse, carmelized peanuts and a black sacher biscuit. Yes, we can take notes and salivate at the same time. We are a professional blog.

Our final stop on the Chocolate-a-Palooza (don’t look here for a TM) is the Chocolate Lounge inside the Sugar Factory at Paris Las Vegas.

Fondue Nirvana. Which, come to think of it, would make a great band name.

So, get out there and make the most of this most special of made-up holidays. It’s a delicious excuse to get some theobromine and phenylethylamine flowing (the chemicals released by the consumption of chocolate that simulate the feelings of love).

After all, Vegas is all about satisfying those pleasure receptors!
