During our meandering through The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace (Jan. 22), we bumped into the man many consider to be the best linebacker of all time, Dick Butkus. He also has the best name in the history of sports figures, but let’s try and stay focused.

Dick Butkus

Dick Butkus played in eight straight Pro Bowls, whatever those might be.

Dick Butkus, a legendary player for the Chicago Bears, was making a public appearance at Field of Dreams, a sports memorabilia store in The Forum Shops.

Bonus Butkus factoid: He is Lithuanian-American. Note: This blog can locate at least one of those countries on a map.

We have more information about Dick Butkus, mostly because it gives us an excuse to type Dick Butkus over and over. Dick Butkus was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1979.

Dick Butkus, in addition to playing professional football, is also a successful actor and broadcaster. He appeared as an actor in “The Longest Yard,” “Any Given Sunday” and the TV movie, “Brian’s Song.” Of special note: He made appearances on three episodes of “MacGyver.”
