There’s always something exciting happening in Vegas. Here are a few juicy Las Vegas news items to help you avoid being productive today.

* Here’s a handy list of the best places to view the Las Vegas Strip, courtesy of our friends at the Las Vegas Review-Journal. We tend to lean toward the view from the Eiffel Tower at Paris Las Vegas.

The Eiffel Tower gives a bird's eye view of the Strip. As well as thousands of hotel room windows. Which is probably not something we should mention.

* USA Today put together a great write-up about Las Vegas’ adult and topless (also known as “European”) pools. Read more. Of course, don’t forget about the Venus Pool at Caesars Palace, which more than qualifies for the list.

* Here’s some sweet coverage (with photos) of the debut of Cheap Trick at Paris Las Vegas. Their show, “Sgt. Pepper Live,” runs through Jul. 31. Learn more.

* Happy belated birthday to Julianna Erdesz, Miss Nevada USA. Her birthday was Jun. 13. Las Vegas, of course, is located in Nevada. Which totally justifies posting a photo of Miss Nevada USA in a pool on this Las Vegas blog.

* When it rains, it pours! On Jun. 9, a guest at Paris Las Vegas hit three separate jackpots of $20,000, $20,000 and $100,000 playing Double Double Bonus video poker. Talk about mojo.

Also of note: Garrett is one of the celebrities slated to play in a charity poker event, Ante Up for Africa (Jul. 3), during the World Series of Poker. Learn more.
