Yay, it’s our favorite Pulse of Vegas blog feature! “Sin City Quickies” is our opportunity to purge a buffet’s worth of Las Vegas news and information without having to spend time doing “research” or “writing actual blog posts.” Let the haphazard and probably irresponsible Las Vegas news download begin!

* Flamingo fixture Donny Osmond is inviting fans to attend his “Donny Dance Forum” on July 22 (at midnight) in The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. The giant, pre-choreographed dance event (which Donny wisely avoids calling a “flashmob”) will be part of his yearly  “ Annual Get-Together.” Visit and click on the “Donny Dance Forum” banner to sign up. View the dance below.

* The “Summer Santa Rampage” takes place tonight (July 8), downtown. The “Rampage” is part of “Santacon” and features lots of people dressing up in heavy, think Santa costumes in the middle of a Sin City July. Ho-ho-hot! Find out more.

* July is National Ice Cream Month, so we figure it’s a great time to take another look at our deeply amateurish video of ice cream being magically made at IcePan inside Harrah’s Vegas. One of our favorite treats on the Strip, easily.

* We enjoyed these weird facts about Las Vegas weddings.

* Here’s a great write-up about one of our favorite performers on the Strip, Mac King, who works his magic at Harrah’s.

* The Plaza downtown has announced it will be importing a Vegas favorite, Hash House a Go Go, when it re-opens on Sep 1. In the meantime, enjoy the famously massive portions at the Hash House a Go Go in the Imperial Palace.

* Irreverent “Absinthe” star Penny Pibbets, and “Peepshow” at Planet Hollywood star Holly Madison, have each written guest columns for in recent days. This blog’s only dilemma is trying to figure out how to divide our crush between them.

* Boy band fans were whipped into a frenzy when the members of New Kids on the Block made an appearance at Chateau Nightclub at Paris Las Vegas on July 3.

New Kids on the Block

New Kids on the Block might want to think about putting quotation marks around the "Kids" part. Just saying.

* The Las Vegas Elvis festival happens July 28-30. The convention will be held at the Las Vegas Hilton, where 40 years ago, Presley performed to record numbers of people. Visit the official site. In a related story, the Las Vegas Hilton won’t be called that much longer. Read more.

* Here’s a fun feature about the Flamingo pool in the Las Vegas Review-Journal. On a related note, “Holly’s World” stunner Laura Croft will appear at the Flamingo pool on July 17, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Flamingo waterslide

The Flamingo pool has a waterslide? We didn't actually know that until we nearly fell into it this week. Lushness!

* The popular female impersonator show, “An Evening at La Cage,” is making a return to Vegas at the Four Queens, downtown. The show closed at the Riv two years ago. Further details here.

* Wynn Las Vegas has become the first Vegas casino to take bets on a non-sporting event, specifically, the World Series of Poker Main Event currently taking place at Rio Las Vegas. Read more. Some have suggested this step could open the door for Las Vegas casinos being able to take bets for things like the Oscars, TV reality competitions or beauty pageants.

* Food Network star Rachael Ray (yes, we checked the spelling) stopped in for a bite at Rao’s, the tempting Italian restaurant inside Caesars Palace, recently. See the pic below.

Foodie icon Rachael Ray hangs out with Rao's owner, Frank Pellegrino Jr.

* Human Nature, headliners at Imperial Palace, stopped by a local news station to talk about their PBS special, their 500th show and their “adorable” Aussie accents. (We just made up that last one.) Catch the video here.

* KBG: Kerry’s Gourmet Burgers got a nice write-up in this blog. Read more about the new KGB Exchange shop we happened upon one day.

* Mon Ami Gabi at Paris Las Vegas will celebrate Bastille Day with Bastille Day-inspired menu items, July 14-20. Some of the featured items are Summer Duck Confit and Grilled Peach Salad, and Pan-Seared Arctic Char (it’s fish) and Strawberry Sorbet with Strawberries in Chambord, whatever that might actually be. Get the details.

* Before you visit P.F. Chang’s restaurant at Planet Hollywood, visit the chain’s Facebook page first. In honor of their 18-year anniversary, Facebook fans who jump through a few hoops receive a coupon for an order of lettuce wraps with the purchase of food or drink. Good through July 31. Get some “free” on the Facebooks.
