The High Roller Observation Wheel at The Linq is about to get its outer rim!

Three mammoth segments of the wheel’s rim, each weighing about 90,000 pounds, are being prepared for installation in the next couple of weeks.

Take that, every other observation wheel everywhere.

Each rim section is 56 feet long, or more than the width of the typical high school basketball court.

There will be 28 rim sections in total.

When completed, the High Roller wheel will be 550 feet tall. The legs of the wheel have already been put up, so the current structure is roughly half of the High Roller’s ultimate height.

Any time you see blue steel at the High Roller, by the way, you’re looking at support beams. Those pieces will eventually be removed.

The rim preparation includes cleaning the segments and adding lights.

Giant cables that will act as the “spokes” of the wheel are also being readied for installation.

Each coil of cable is more than 240 feet long. Yes, we measured.

I’ve heard rumors that this project is dead in the water. I hope that those people are getting it confused with the other one on the south side. I am really looking forward to seeing this and the rest of Linq completed.
