Taunts were hurled. Brews were imbibed. Balls were dunked. And at least two beer pong dreams of glory have become a reality in Las Vegas.

The World Series of Beer Pong VI, held at Flamingo Las Vegas, has crowned two new champions. They are members of a team calling itself Standing Ovation: Dan Range from Columbia, Illinois and Nick Syrigos, from St. Charles, Missouri.

World Series of Beer Pong victors, Standing Ovation.

Standing Ovation was the last team, well, standing, out of 507 teams that began the amply-lubricated competition, and the two champs received an oversized check for $50,000 in prize money. The check was presented by the voice of the UFC, announcer Bruce Buffer.

Standing Ovation beat out another team, Unstoppable Since Inception, in a best-of-three final match. Standing Ovation didn’t require a third game.

Nick Syrigos

Standing Ovation member Nick Syrigos brings his duck to the square dance. (We just made that phrase up.)

We put together some highlights of the final beer pong showdown, featuring our wildly inadequate videography and an exclusive, three-question interview with Standing Ovation by social media maven and longtime friend of this Las Vegas blog, Maria Roncal.

What have we learned? 1) Beer pong can get wild, bro. 2) The secret to beer pong success? Using lip balm as a distraction!

Range and Syrigos have been playing as a team for about six months. When asked what they plan to do with the winnings, Range said he wants to buy a new set of golf clubs and then an engagement ring for his longtime girlfriend (as mentioned in the video). Syrigos plans to pay off student loans and also buy a ring for his girlfriend, for a possible joint wedding.

"See that exit, my friend? That's the exit we should use if this 'wedding' talk continues!"

The World Series of Beer Pong is the longest-running beer pong tournament in the world, and this year’s event was the the largest in WSOBP history.

Congrats to everyone who made this year’s World Series of Beer Pong such a splashy, trash-talking, suds-fueled success. Visit the official World Series of Beer Pong site for more information.
