The 13th annual Pet-A-Palooza event, a festival dedicated to animals and their owners, will be held April 21, 2012 near the Las Vegas Strip at Star Nursery Fields at Sam Boyd Stadium.

This event provides this blog an excellent excuse to share dog photos.

Dog tongue

A face only a mother could pretend to love.

Pet-A-Palooza is hosted by Vegas radio station Mix 94.1, and Caesars Entertainment (them whose blog this is) is the event’s exclusive hotel-casino sponsor.

Sponsoring Pet-A-Palooza also happens to be an excellent excuse to let people know about all the pet-friendly Caesars Entertainment hotels in Las Vegas. (Just a coincidence, we’re sure.) Find out more about the PetStay program at Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood, Paris, Harrah’s, Bally’s, Flamingo, Imperial Palace and Rio. And check out our story about the first dog to check into a PetStay hotel.

What is the matter with you people?

We would share photos of cats, but: 1) This blog is a dog person. 2) The PetStay program at Caesars Entertainment hotels is dogs-only at the moment. 3) Cats already get enough attention on the Internet.

When was the last time you saw cats playing poker? Case closed.

Activities at Pet-A-Palooza include a Buff Dog Contest, Hairiest Dog Contest and Ugliest Dog Contest.

Live entertainment is also scheduled, including Megan & Liz, Graffiti6, Haley Reinhart, Matt Nathanson and Kris Allen, whose name we actually recognize because of the whole “American Idol” thing.

We don't know how to feel about this.

Also on hand will be some DockDogs.

This blog loves it some DockDogs.

They bolt. They jump. They splash. The photo below might help.

DockDogs are cooler than regular dogs, literally and figuratively.

Additional awesome: Food and money collected at Pet-A-Palooza benefits more than 45 non-profit animal rescue groups.

Admission is $8, free for children three or younger. Bring a pet food donation and get $1 off the admission price. Parking costs $5 per car.
