Rock N" Roll Date Night in Las Vegas

Fall in love at Rio like Sherrie and Drew from Rock of Ages.

Dinner and a movie dates are so passé. Crank your next date night up to 11 with an exciting night at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. Known mainly for Chippendales and the World Series of Poker, Rio has plenty more to offer, especially for rock stars like you. Start your evening with some friendly competition and work up an appetite at KISS by Monster Mini Golf. Refuel with flavorful Mexican fare at Guy Fieri’s El Burro Borracho then impress your date with your best air guitar as you rock out to ‘80s hair band favorites at the feel-good musical and beloved Las Vegas show, Rock of Ages.

Chances are you and your date sport Fitbit trackers, so friendly competition already fuels your relationship. KISS by Monster Mini Golf offers the perfect excuse to display your golfing prowess – or at least your sense of humor if Jordan Spieth is not your spirit animal. Some couples may opt to check egos at the door and chuck the score card from the start. Regardless of whether you keep score, you’ll enjoy the 13,000 square feet of black light fun. That’s almost enough room for Gene Simmons’ ridiculously long tongue. Imagine the scene: Your date asks for help achieving the perfect swing. You have no choice but to wrap your arms gently around her (or him). You swing toward the giant guitar obstacle and boom – hole in one! Fun golf course aside, this attraction has plenty of sweet photo ops plus memorabilia from one of the greatest bands to ever “Rock and Roll All Nite.”

You’ll need to fuel up after all those holes-in-one or even more so if you managed to five-putt each of them. Grab your ticket to Flavortown and take your date to Guy Fieri’s El Burro Borracho where the rock ‘n’ roll soundtrack sets the perfect backdrop to Guy’s fun and delicious Mexican food. The restaurant’s artwork highlights Fieri’s life story through a tattoo-style depiction by his tattoo artist Craig Fraser. If El Burro Borracho, aka The Drunken Donkey, inspires your next couple’s tattoo then visit neighboring Count’s Tattoo Company and immortalize your love for each other, or for tacos!

Kick things off with a tequila flight and impress your date with your knowledge of reposados and añejos or just sound authoritative and choose whichever of the four flights has the most amusing name. “Lost in Tijuana,” anyone? If you need a little more than just lime with your tequila, try a margarita like Fieri’s signature Caliente Margarita with jalapeño-infused El Jimador and fresh cilantro. Definitely start your meal with Grilled Street Corn coated with cream, chile de arbol, cilantro, lime, mayo and crumbled Cotija cheese. Sure, corn on the cob is messy and might not be the ideal romantic date food but this is worth carrying some floss in your purse or pocket. It’s just that good. Let your date lead the way with selecting additions to Guy’s Guacamole like chorizo, roasted pineapple or even lobster. ¡Que rico! Main dishes include street tacos, enchiladas, burritos, chimichangas and fajitas but the Build Your Borracho Platter offers a chance to sample several. The carne asada is a must! Remember it’s date night and sharing is caring. You’ll want to end the meal with some sweets with your sweetheart and the Fried Ice Cream is the way to go. The crispy coated fried ball of vanilla ice cream is served with vanilla ice cream plus cinnamon-infused Mexican chocolate sauce and a white chocolate spicy rum sauce.

Your sweet tooth may be satisfied but now it’s time for some ‘80s ear candy. “Don’t Stop Believin’” this will be an amazing crescendo to rock ‘n’ roll date night. Rock of Ages tells the story of a boy “born and raised in South Detroit” and a “small-town girl” who find love in LA.  Journey puns aside, if you’re not singing along and gazing into each other’s eyes by the end of this irresistibly fun show, you’re doing it wrong. Get up and dance, work off those tasty tacos and remember an era where soaring vocals were only topped in volume by big hair. There’s always the option to make it a truly unforgettable night by returning to KISS by Monster Mini Golf to make things official in the at the ultimate rock star wedding chapel. Rock on, lovebirds!
