Yes, it’s a free show. Yes, it’s “legitimate theater” (translation: no contortionists or cliff divers). Yes, it’s in Las Vegas. And, yes, this Las Vegas blog is gonna hook you up with free admission!

Teller, of Penn & Teller fame, has co-written (with Todd Robbins) and directed a stage thriller, “Play Dead,” that’s making its way to New York for an off-Broadway run. The cool news is that it’s at the Rio Vegas through Sep. 24.

Attend free by dropping a line to this e-mail address. Mention the Pulse of Vegas blog while you’re at it.

Teller Play Dead

We're already a little freaked out.

“Play Dead” is described as “a 75-minute thrill ride to Hell and back.” The publicity material goes on to say, “Plunge into physical and psychological darkness with Todd Robbins serving as the show’s perfectly corrupt guide. Come laugh, scream and be shocked by bizarre illusions, naked demons, intense suspense and blood before ‘Play Dead’ leaves Las Vegas forever and heads off-Broadway.”

It’s probably wrong that we read the “naked demons” part twice, right?

Performance dates are Sep. 14-19, 21-24. Shows start at 8:00 p.m. (except for the Sep. 15 show, at 11:00 p.m.) and take place in the Rio’s Calypso Room.

Teller's impish grin belies his macabre bent. Oh, yeah, this blog just busted out some English lit, baby.

No one under 13 will be admitted, which kind of makes us think the play’s odds of being awesome just went up exponentially. Oh, and did we mention Teller co-wrote it? Learn more about the play on the official site.

Again, these performances are free! Send your RSVP here. Space is limited.
