In the (construction) zone: The Cromwell President Karie Hall chats with Food Network celeb.

Celebrity chef, famous foodie and television star Giada De Laurentiis will soon add another job to her long list: restaurateur. She says she been asked to open a restaurant for years, and finally inked a deal in her dream space at the newly named Cromwell luxury boutique hotel.

The stunning star visited the construction site of her restaurant this past week, touring the space with the hotel’s vice president and general manager, Karie Hall. Design details and menu decisions are moving along quickly, and De Laurentiis has even begun previewing some of the menu at special events. (South Beach Food & Wine, we suspect you’re the next lucky taste testers.) Construction is well underway on the entire hotel project, and the faster, the better. We can’t wait to dig into De Laurentiis’ signature Marsala herb chicken meatballs and lemon ricotta cookies.

I’m a huge fan of Giada on the Food Network, “Giada at Home.” My wife and I are traveling through Las Vegas and staying at The Cromwell on July 3rd and we will be sure to make a reservation at Giada for that evening. Italian is my favorite cuisine; can’t wait! Good luck with your new and exciting endeavor, Giada!
