If you want homestyle East Coast Italian food, you go to Martorano’s at Paris Las Vegas.
Chef Steve Martorano brings his old school South Philadelphia family recipes to his restaurant. Think hearty portions, Philly cheesesteaks and macaroni smothered in Sunday gravy.
Pair your meal with a specialty cocktail or a glass of wine, perhaps from Martorano’s own label.
The atmosphere at Martorano’s is lively and modern. As the night progresses, the music segues into a party mix with everything from disco to classic R & B. You’ll also notice TVs around the restaurant playing some of Martorano’s favorite classic movies like “Casino.”
The choice can be tough between all of the fabulous pasta, veal dishes, seafood and mouthwatering desserts, so we’ve helped you narrow it down. Here are five things we think you must try at Martorano’s:
Trust us, you’ll want to start out your meal at Martorano’s with the eggplant stacked. The eggplant is breaded and fried and then layered with homemade mozzarella, (yes, it is made fresh in-house and you’ll notice the difference) marinated tomatoes, arugula and slices of D.O.C. Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese.
Meatball and Salad
One of our favorite dishes at Martorano’s is the meatball and salad.
The crisp salad is made with Romaine hearts, cucumber, red onion, cherry tomatoes, red wine vinegar, Sicilian extra virgin olive oil and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese.
The perfect pairing with the salad is Martorano’s famous meatball. The meatballs are a mix of ground beef, veal and pork, garlic, salt and pepper, bread crumbs and grated Parmigiano-Reggiano and they’re to die for.
Bonus: There’s a scoop of ricotta cheese on the side.
Water Ice Martini
If you’re from Philly, you probably know what water ice is. For those of you who aren’t, the best way we can describe it is that it’s kind of like an Italian ice. Martorano’s puts a scoop of flavored water ice in their martinis and it makes for a sweet, refreshing treat. You’ll definitely want to try more than one of the fruity flavors like watermelon and lemon.
Rigatoni With Sunday Gravy
The macaroni (as the chef prefers to call it) dishes at Martorano’s are all delicious so it can be difficult to choose just one. They’re all made using imported Rustichella d’Abruzzo products and they’re always cooked al dente.
One that we keep coming back for is one of the restaurant’s signatures, the rigatoni with Sunday gravy. The tender pasta is topped with Martorano’s famous gravy, which includes chunks of pork and a scoop of ricotta cheese.
Strawberry Panna Cotta
Every good meal ends with dessert. There’s lots of sweet treats to choose from at Martorano’s but we have to recommend one of their newer desserts, the homemade strawberry panacotta. The traditional Italian dessert is made with sweetened cream and topped with fresh berries. It’s nice and light and makes the perfect ending to your meal.
