Football’s biggest day happens Feb. 5, 2012, and Vegas is going to be hopping.
Las Vegas hotels, restaurants and bars are careful not to use the name of the actual event due to trademark restrictions (the “Bowl” of a distinctly “Super” nature, that is, or the championship game of the National Football League), but its code names, like “Big Game” and “Gridiron Championship,” shouldn’t be too tough to decipher.
About the only folks you’ll see actually using the term “Super Bowl” are the ones selling NFL-sanctioned merchandise. There will be “pop-up” retail locations at a number of Vegas resorts, including Rio (photo below), Bally’s, Flamingo, Harrah’s and Planet Hollywood. The kiosks will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (Planet Hollywood’s will be open until 11:00 p.m. It’s just cool like that.)
Just about every venue at every Las Vegas hotel will offer special menus, drink specials and other football-themed draws for “Enormous Football Day.” We would list them all here, but that would require “effort.” We are a Las Vegas blog, not an effort-exerter.
We have, however, received information about some Feb. 5 “Game Day” specials at the following Caesars Entertainment hotels. We’re insider like that.
At Bally’s Vegas, the Indigo Lounge hosts a “Miller Lite Tailgate Buffet” for $83. It includes a buffet, giveaways and an open beer bar.
Caesars Palace has a “Poker Room Winning Package,” for $175. It includes all-you-can-drink buckets of Coors Light and Miller Lite, as well as an all-you-can-eat buffet.
At Flamingo, Burger Joint has a deal for $65 that includes an all-you-can-eat buffet (starting to see a pattern here?) and two signature souvenir glasses.
Harrah’s offers up a $65 deal at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill, including an all-you-can-eat buffet and its popular 48-ounce souvenir Boot Cup. At Carnaval Court, there’s another buffet deal for $55.
Paris Las Vegas joins in the fun with its “Le Burger Brasserie Miller Lite Tailgate Buffet,” at $120. Includes a buffet, giveaways, an open beer bar and live DJ. We’ve found those are the best kind.
Over at Planet Hollywood, the Spice Market is serving up a “Red Zone Buffet,” for $49.99, which includes an open beer bar (3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.) and giveaways. Bonus: “Mean Gene” of the “Sports Kings” show on KFNX radio will broadcast live from the hotel’s sports book (noon to 2:00 p.m.).
Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo Cantina in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood will host an event boasting “20 gorgeous Benchwarmer girls.” We have no idea what those are, but we’re fairly sure this blog condones them.
Rockhouse, outside the Imperial Palace, will host what is sure to be a memorable gathering, including open bar and buffet packages starting at $100 per person. Oh, and everyone at the party will look exactly like the women in the photo below.
Wrapping up the “Big Game” fun is Rio Las Vegas, with its “Irish Pub Big Game Package” for $75. The deal includes all-you-can-drink Coors Light and Miller Lite draft beer, “buffet-style offerings” (quotation marks mean we don’t entirely know what this means), a “Big Game” commemorative gift, a halftime memorabilia raffle, live music and special appearances by the Coors Light Promo Girls.

So, get ready for some football fun in Vegas. And if you’re not particularly a football fan, we hear there’s also some gambling, dining, shows, spas, shopping and stuff. If you’re into that kind of thing.
