Downtown Las Vegas is in for quite the milestone weekend as the inaugural Life is Beautiful revelry hits town October 26-27. But even with its big-name headliners such as Kings of Leon, Vampire Weekend and Beck, it has mushroomed into much more than a music festival.
But if this is “Vegas’ version of Coachella” as people are nicknaming it, it sure is one-upping the Indio, Calif. hipster-fest. Life is Beautiful not only plans for ticketed culinary parties, an alchemy garden, performances by Cirque du Soleil and its very own Ferris wheel ride sponsored by The Linq, but a huge culinary village with A-list chefs touting bites from their Strip restaurants to all 30,000 ticketholders. Kerry Simon of KBG, François Payard of Payard Patisserie and Bistro, and Steve Martorano of Martorano’s are all featured at the event, and all three will be doing demos on the Chef’s Stage adjacent to the Village.
The Art is Beautiful aspect features art presentations, street artists, and theatrical performers interspersed in the festival grounds, adding another layer to the culturally-rich spectacle. Located near the main stage, the 90-foot Ferris wheel (plus photo booth!) is a whimsical wink to The Linq’s upcoming High Roller, a 550-foot observation wheel that will stand as the tallest in the country once construction is completed the first half of 2014.
More than 60 red hot music acts are set to perform over two days on three stages. Homegrown talents The Killers and Imagine Dragons are two of the biggest highlights on the bill.
