Remember the good ol’ summer days when the ice cream truck visited your neighborhood? Nothing was more satisfying than savoring your favorite ice cream bar (Ninja Turtle popsicle and its gumdrop eyes!). We may not be kids anymore, but that doesn’t mean we have to stop celebrating this beloved summer treat.

National Ice Cream Day is this Sunday, July 21. While you’re in Vegas, these refreshing sweet treats make even the most sweltering days enjoyable. And as always, Sin City goes all out so make sure to come hungry.

Serendipity summer

If you’re experiencing the Vegas heat and would love nothing more than a delicious frozen dessert, head over to Serendipity 3 at Caesars Palace. This famous New York eatery offers delicious comfort food options and an awesome dessert menu. For those braving the scorching temperatures, try Serendipity 3?s signature Frrrozen Hot Chocolate (pictured below). Various flavors include chocolate, white chocolate, peanut butter, mint, amaretto, green tea and strawberry, among others.

Try Serendipity 3’s signature Frrrozen Hot Chocolate. Mmm…chocolate…

Next on the list is Serendipity 3?s Las Vegas Treasure Chest. Inside the edible chocolate chest box, ”discover” sweet treats like ice cream, cookies, berries, cakes and much more. Think of it like a pastry shop, all in one box. This mighty dessert is $93, but easily feeds four to six people. Think of it this way: You’ll leave Vegas a winner.

Release your inner pirate and sink your teeth into this treasure-filled goodness.

If you’re looking for a way to celebrate your winnings, go all out and dive into Serendipity 3’s Golden Opulence Ice Cream. Priced at a whopping $1,000, the fancy treat includes Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream (three scoops), Italy’s fine Amedei Porcelana melted dark chocolate, chocolate truffles, marzipan cherries, edible gold-covered almonds, gold dust and finally, an edible 23-carat gold leaf.

The restaurant also features fun sundae flavors like carrot cake, red velvet, deep-fried Oreos and the popular Grasshopper Marshmallow Mint Explosion. While you’re here, snap some pictures and make all your Instagram followers jealous. Choosing your ideal ice cream treat takes careful planning, so have a look in advance.

It’s Crunch time

Milkshakes count as ice cream too, right? Close enough! Just a hop, skip and a jump from Caesars Palace, KGB Burgers: Kerry’s Gourmet Burgers features an expansive burger menu and its delightful Captain Crunch milkshake. It’s so tasty, you might just start eating cereal with ice cream instead. Now that’s what we call breakfast of champions!

It would have been nice to have KGB Burgers’ Captain Crunch milkshake during Saturday morning cartoons.

Sugar (Oh, honey, honey…)

Best known for its bedazzled couture pops, Paris Las Vegas’ Sugar Factory American Brasserie offers much more than glitter and candy. Not only can you enjoy goblets topped with liquid nitrogen, gigantic waffle fries, fried mac ‘n cheese and white chocolate burger buns, Sugar Factory offers tantalizing desserts. Knock two cravings at once and order the frozen raspberry white chocolate, pictured below.

These are just some suggestions how you can celebrate National Ice Cream Day. Whichever you choose, there’s really no way you can go wrong. Plus, you’re on vacation – what better reason to indulge, right? Happy eating!

About The Author

I live for a crazy Vegas adventure, but not in ways you may think. Sure, our nightlife scene is all fun and dandy, but I love discovering all of the city's vegan options, relaxing in hotel rooms and seeing the best concerts - no matter how big or small the crowd may be. Since I've ditched the rain in Seattle two decades ago, I graduated from UNLV and covered Las Vegas entertainment articles for, the LA Times and our very own Total Vegas Blog. When I'm not writing, you'll find me spending time with my husband, toddler and two pets.

When extolling the virtues of Las Vegas ice cream, it’s important not to forget Ice Pan at Harrah’s where you can get a snack and a show with every order.
