The weather is finally cooling down. Our focus is now on the holidays. What are you wearing for Halloween? More importantly, what are your friends going as for Halloween? You have to have the best costume, right?
Besides your focus on winning costume contests, there are plenty of other options for fun and excitement in Las Vegas in October. There’s Hoptoberfest – a month-long celebration of beer, exciting entertainment from Reba, Brooks & Dunn and Backstreet Boys and the last days of pool season. Check out our must-dos for this October.

On October 2, punk rock fans will get schooled in the history of their favorite musical genre as MC50 Presents Kick Out the Jams – The 50th Anniversary Tour. Brother Wayne Kramer brings songs from his essential punk band MC5 and their 1969 album “Kick Out the Jams” to Brooklyn Bowl at The LINQ Promenade in a celebration of the longevity of this fast and hard form of rock. Long live punk! Doors open at 7 p.m.

At The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, funnyman Sebastian Maniscalco brings the laughs Oct. 6 – 7 at 8 p.m. His macho Italian observations on the good old days and how complicated life is now have audiences throughout the world rolling in the aisles.

Lionel Richie continues his successful residency performing at 8 p.m. in the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino Oct. 3 – 20. “All The Hits.” “Dancing On The Ceiling,” “Brickhouse,” “Easy” – they’re all there.

The first weekend in October is a big one for OMNIA Nightclub at Caesars Palace. Steve Aoki, the electro house DJ and party king, takes over on Oct. 5. On Oct. 6, the night belongs to Zedd, the Russian born multi-talent who is a master DJ and musician also specializing in electro house.

Migos
Over at Drai’s Nightclub at The Cromwell, party all night with mumble rap trio Migos, who hit the big time with the single “Versace.” And maybe, just maybe Offset will let you vibe on that “Ric Flair Drip.”

Don’t forget the beer! Leave it to Las Vegas to take a holiday and make it bigger. Hoptoberfest is the ultimate bar crawl with 20 Vegas bars participating from Oct. 1 – 28. Drink your way through The Strip. Your parents will be proud.

Country music takes over The Colosseum at Caesars Palace with foot-stompers all night long courtesy of Reba, Brooks & Dunn from Oct. 10 – 20. Reba has 42 number one country singles while Brooks & Dunn have 20 of their own. This is a powerhouse lineup. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.

I love the ’90s
The ’90s are back at Paris Las Vegas as “I Love The ’90s – The Vegas Show” premieres Oct. 12 – 27 with Salt-N-Pepa – who will push it real good, Rob Base – who came to get down, and All-4-One – who… swears.
The celebration of the last decade of the 20th century returns for dates in November and December with acts like En Vogue, Mark McGrath and Kid ‘n Play. It’ll be a house party at 9 p.m. nightly.

Halloween Week at The linq Promenade
Nobody does Halloween quite like The LINQ Promenade. On Oct. 27 – 28, the open air boulevard will host trick-or-treating for kids from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Adults can win big for playing dress-up as the official costume contest will be held Oct. 27. There will be about $15,000 worth of prizes so bring your best outfit!
Spooktacular entertainment will be held on the Fountain Stage Oct. 27 – 31.

The Backstreet Boys’ successful residency continues at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino Oct. 24 – 31. The band that felt “Larger Than Life” to you in your teenage years still has a major presence. The show starts at 9 p.m.

The Colosseum at Caesars Palace has a bevy of unique shows including “AC2 – An Intimate Evening With Anderson Cooper & Andy Cohen,” which will tackle both serious and ridiculous issues of the world today with the CNN and Bravo TV hosts. The show starts at 8 p.m. Oct. 26.

Things get a little more chill on Oct. 30 as So Cal folk rock act Dawes takes over the night. Their biggest hits include “When the Tequila Runs Out” and “Things Happen” and if you put those two titles together, you’d have another pretty interesting song. OMNIA Nightclub at Caesars Palace features special DJs just about every night from Oct. 26 – 31. Progressive house wonder kid Martin Garrix runs the room on Oct. 26. Zedd returns Oct. 27 and 30. And Halloween belongs to Steve Aoki.

See if you “feather up” to the other birds at the newest Flamingo Las Vegas venue, Bird Bar. Each cocktail is named after a bird and the happy hour from 5 – 6 p.m. features 50 cent beers. Now that’s something to chirp about.
