Lionel Richie is one of the new Vegas headliners at Planet Hollywood.

When Lionel Richie — the man, the maestro, the mustache — is headlining Vegas, you beeline it to Vegas.

That’s the way it works…that’s how all of this works.

However, for those of you in need of a little convincing, we’ve rounded up a few songs you’ve fancied, but may have forgotten. You need only hear a snippet of the following chart-topping tunes to know “Lionel Richie— All the Hits” at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino is a grand time. These songs are a must for any Richie-sings-it-live setlist. Given that, you must make the masterful crooner’s new residency the ultimate add-on to your Vegas headliners must-see list.

Well, my friends, the time has come
Let the music play on…play on…play on…

1. “All Night Long (All Night)

Don’t know what the call and response “Tom bo li de say de moi ya? Yeah, jumbo jumbo,” means? Yeah, well, neither did Richie because he made it up in a time crunch. What we do know? The catchy song definitely makes us want to “Fiesta, forever.”

 2. “Easy

Before the four-time Grammy winner stepped out on his own and made a hard left into pop, he was right in the center of the funk/soul band, The Commodores. “Easy” was one of the group’s many crossover ballads and the resulting popularity made it much easier for the frontman to chart an impressive solo career.

3. “Lady (You Bring Me Up)

“Lady (You Bring Me Up)” is Richie leaving the Commodores on a high note. The upbeat oldie, but boogie is one of the last hits in which he sang lead before saying sayonara. As he states in this performance video, it’s one of his “favorite songs.” He also jokes that he had more hair than he wants to talk about. No further words necessary. We’ve got ‘fro footage.

4. “Stuck on you

Donning a cowboy hat for the single’s album cover, the genre-busting Richie let the world know he’d gone country. The song peaked at number 24 on the country music charts and was a triumphant swagger into his long-running influence on the country sound.

5. “Say You, Say Me

A number one track topped off with the dancing duo of Mikhail Baryshnikov and Gregory Hines? We’ll take it! Just like Richie took home the gold for this song that dominated the album charts for weeks in 1985. Written and recorded for the commercial success “White Nights,” the single won a Golden Globe and an Oscar for Best Original Song.

 6. “Endless Love

Another movie. Another hit. This theme song for the film “Endless Love” has been covered by countless superstar artists. Yet, the original recording made famous by Richie and Diana Ross still holds on to the accolade of the greatest song duet of all-time. Billboard awarded the single top billing because, “It’s not only the biggest No. 1 hit for either artist (it spent nine weeks at the top), but also clung to the chart for an amazing 27 weeks.”

“Adele still hasn’t called me yet,” Richie has quipped in reference to the British powerhouse vocalist’s song of the same name. But in the myriad of memes that have surfaced since the release of Adele’s song, she has called—and the conversation did not go well. All spoofing aside, it’s one of Richie’s most enduring songs—one you’ll seriously find yourself singing along to when you see him play it live in Vegas!

  4. Hello Doris. I wouldn’t recommend waiting until you arrive in Vegas to purchase tickets, as you don’t want them to be sold out upon arrival. However, if you want to purchase tickets in person you can do so at the AXIS box office at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Find more info. here.
