High Roller at The LINQ Las Vegas

There’s plenty of things to do in Las Vegas before and after the fight weekend main event, including flashy concerts, showstopping special attractions and pool parties.

Not only is May 1-3 “fight weekend,” it’s the biggest one of all time. The long-awaited bout is set for May 2 at MGM Grand Garden Arena. Top tier boxing events like these attract thousands of fans from around the world, and tickets can hit six digit prices. Sports enthusiasts get to watch history be made—through ringside seats, Pay-Per-View or live feeds in various casino sports books.

The LINQ Promenade and High Roller Grand Opening Events

The LINQ Pool opens at 9 a.m. throughout May 1-3, with a live DJ poolside starting at noon. Friday’s party features bucket specials by Dos Equis, Tecate and Herradura Tequila, plus DJ Exodus. Sunday, May 3 will kick off “Champagne Sundays” at LINQ Pool, where guests can take advantage of a buy one, get one bottle of Veuve Clicquot or Moet champagne offer all summer long. Expect giveaways, prizes, beach balls, squirt guns, Super Soaker and games all weekend.

Gather around The LINQ Fountain Stage at 10:30 a.m. (tentative time) on April 30 as LEGO Certified Professional Adam Reed Tucker will unveil a model of the High Roller fully constructed out of LEGO bricks. The moving replica will be available for viewing in the High Roller Wheel House following the unveiling. Later in the evening, season five winner of “America’s Got Talent,” Michael Grimm, will perform a free concert on stage from 7-10 p.m.

The party continues the next day, May 1, with a grand opening including entertainment, events and special offers. At 4 p.m., a custom cake modeled after the High Roller by “Ace of Cakes” front man and celebrity baker Duff Goldman will be unveiled by his team from Charm City Cakes West.

(After the LEGO model and the cake, you get a chance to “reinvent the wheel.” Get in the action with your own High Roller remake. Follow @TheLINQ and @HighRollerVegas on Instagram and post your version of the High Roller with the hashtag #ReinventTheWheel for a chance to win great prizes including weekend getaways at The LINQ Hotel.)

At 7 p.m., the party turns up the heat with a performance by headliner Frankie Moreno on The LINQ Fountain Stage. Visitors to The LINQ Promenade will also be able to play free arcade games for chances to win great prizes. Enjoy outdoor bars and drink specials from Chayo Mexican Kitchen + Tequila Bar, Off The Strip, Brooklyn Bowl and special offers at Sprinkles Cupcakes and Chilli Beans.

Looking for a place to recover from all the action of fight weekend? Check out the complete list on our Things to do in Las Vegas page. Additionally, on May 3 enjoy the views of the Las Vegas Strip while drinking at an open bar Hangover Cabin featuring Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas. Tickets are available at the High Roller box offices at The LINQ Promenade.

There are also several special offers to take advantage of:

  • Polaroid Fotobar: Receive 12 free small polaroid prints with the purchase of an XL Shadowbox
  • Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas: Enjoy Happy Hour from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Reverse Happy Hour from midnight to close.
  • Chilli Beans: Receive 20 percent off the price of your second item purchased.
  • Tilted Kilt: On Friday, May 1, enjoy $5 off your check when you check in on Facebook. On Sunday, May 3 enjoy bottomless mimosas for $20 per person with the purchase of two entrees.
  • Sprinkles Cupcakes: May 1-31, get free customization on “design your own” boxes (normally a $10 fee.). Enjoy a bubble gum ice cream flavor May 1-31 and margarita cupcakes May 1-21 in correlation with Cinco De Mayo.

Kentucky Derby

On May 2, enjoy The LINQ Promenade’s festive atmosphere and Derby Hat contest at 2 p.m. with a $1,000 grand prize. At noon, the Derby Party begins with live music by Chuck E. Bumps and broadcast of all races from Churchill Downs right in the heart of The LINQ. Enjoy signature Derby cocktails served at BLVD. Cocktail Company and Tilted Kilt. Outdoor bars courtesy of Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas and Chayo Mexican Kitchen + Tequila Bar will be located through The Promenade.

Chateau Nightclub & Rooftop at Paris Las Vegas

Expect a blazing performance by fierce female rapper Nicki Minaj, as she headlines Chateau Nightclub’s fight after-party. Beginning around 10 p.m. May 2, get your drink on while waiting for Minaj to take the stage. Jeremih, Sevyn Streeter and Funkmaster Flex will also be on hand for one of the most explosive post-fight bashes on the Strip. Book-ending the weekend are Nelly hosting May 1 and Wale performing May 3. Admission to the events requires a ticket to be purchased in advance. Tickets to the Main Room and The Deck are priced starting at $80 per person and tickets with rooftop access start at $160. Table reservations starting at $550 are also available for sale in advance.

Drai’s Nightclub at The Cromwell

Sexy rooftop pool-nightclub Drai’s has a whole rundown of entertainment and A-list celeb guests booked day and night. DJs take the stage during the pool-club hours, rapper 50 Cent performs May 1, and Chris Brown performs the following night on May 2. Busta Rhymes concludes the weekend with a concert on May 3. Purchase tickets in advance to guarantee your spot, or splurge and book an outdoor table with champagne bottle service.

Black and Brown Comedy Get Down

Late night, post-fight comedy showcase Black and Brown Comedy Get Down at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace features some of the most talented comedians on the block. George Lopez, Cedric the Entertainer, Mike Epps, D.L. Hughley and Charlie Murphy will all perform sets at the 11 p.m. show. Funnyman Eddie Griffin, who has his own resident show at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, also joins.

Special guest Tyson Beckford in “Chippendales”

Hunky model and actor Tyson Beckford is doing a guest host run in “Chippendales” at Rio on April 30-May 24. The limited engagement (Thursday through Sunday performances only) is in correlation with the release of his new film “Chocolate City”—an urban spin on “Magic Mike.” In his turn in “Chippendales,” he’ll undoubtedly show off the moves he learned as he performs a few of the numbers and interacts with audience members.

The Great American Foodie Fest

Indulge in dishes from multiple vendors (White Castle!) at The Great American Foodie Fest, running April 30-May 3 outside at Rio. You’ll try bites from more than 50 of the nation’s best food trucks and specialty vendors featured on Food Network. In between noshing, check out the carnival rides, beer garden or cooking demonstrations. The festival is open 4 p.m. to midnight Thursday through Friday, noon to midnight on Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.
